iHerb Recalls 60,000 Iron Supplements

by Eric Munson | July 14, 2025

On June 26, iHerb (Irvine, CA) recalled about 60,000 units of its house brand California Gold Nutrition Iron Supplements over “child safety concerns.”

According to the company, the recalled supplements contain iron, which are legally required to be in child-resistant packaging as per the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The packages for the bottles and blister packs violate the federal regulations as they are not child-resistant, posing a risk of fatal poisoning if the contents are consumed by young children.

Consumers should immediately secure the recalled products and contact iHerb for a refund and how to safely dispose of the product.

“To ensure the utmost safety for our customers, iHerb voluntarily recalled three of its house brand products. The recall was prompted by the product packaging, which lacked a required child-resistant cap. It’s important to note that this recall is solely related to the packaging, and there is no compromise to the quality or inherent safety of the products themselves. When used as directed, these products are safe for households without small children. There have been no reported deaths, illnesses, or any other adverse reactions linked to these products,” iHerb said in a statement.
