[Extra! Extra!] Talking Weight Loss With Christel Lemaire, Marketing Manager, Microphyt, Baillargues, France

by James Gormley | May 1, 2024

VR: What nutrients and finished products are best for improving metabolism, and why?

Lemaire: A new and innovative ingredient for optimizing metabolic wellness and weight management efforts is sourced from the earth’s richest untapped natural source of bioactives: microalgae. For billions of years, these unicellular organisms have played a crucial role in development of life on earth. The vast biodiversity of microalgae, and its benefits for both humans and the planet, are immense.

Microphyt’s PhaeOptim, an extract of the microalgae strain Phaeodactylum tricornutum. A double-blinded, randomized, female-centric clinical study pending publication shows PhaeOptim supports metabolic wellness and active lifestyles vital to healthy weight management.

In the 12-week study, 37 overweight women following a supervised exercise and diet plan took either a placebo or 220 mg/day of PhaeOptim. The results showed that at both six and 12 weeks, PhaeOptim:

• Burned more fat (up to 50 percent) during and after exercise

• Enhanced aerobic capacity 2.5 times as measured by VO2 max

• Reduced resting heart rate to strengthen cardiovascular health

• Supported bone health by maintaining bone mineral content

PhaeOptim is the only sustainable, natural and clinically proven solution that enhances consumers’ wellness journey by optimizing exercise and nutrition efforts. It has shown to significantly improve exercise capacity, cardiovascular health and bone damage prevention.

VR: Are carb blockers or fat burners falling out of popularity, or is there still a place for them?

Lemaire: These products may offer some benefits for certain individuals when used judiciously and as part of a holistic approach to weight management. However, the downside is that carb blockers and fat burners often work by artificially manipulating metabolic processes or suppressing appetite. This can result in weight loss that is not sustainable or healthy in the long term.
