Howard Pollack, Owner, Rainbow Acres, Dies at 82

| October 25, 2022

Retailer Howard Pollack, owner of Rainbow Acres located in Los Angeles, CA, died on October 21. According to his family, Pollack passed away due to complications from COVID-19. He was 82 years old.

An announcement by Positively Natural, a natural products industry association, stated,  "Howard was a longtime staple of the natural products industry. His company was a long-standing force which kept up with the times and continues to flourish today. Howard was a longtime member of the association and for the last two years has not only been a retail member but exhibited as a supplier at our show in Las Vegas."

According to the Rainbow Acres website, "Howard was born an entrepreneur; he began selling bags of candy for a five-cent profit at the age of eight. By 1967, he started a natural foods business out of the kitchen in his home, mixing natural ingredients into what he called 'chunks o’ health.' This grew into what became Nature's Best distribution company. For the last 40 years, he has owned and operated Rainbow Acres Natural Foods, which is the largest independently owned natural food store in the Los Angeles area."

According to a statement by his daughter, Erin Olf, on his CaringBridge tribute website, the family asks that donations be made to his Rotary Club, Playa Sunrise, in lieu of flowers.
