When David Winston, RH (AHG) began selling the surplus extracts he was making for his own clinical practice to other practitioners, he named the endeavor to reflect the synergy that happens when herbs are skillfully combined: Herbalist & Alchemist. On August 11, the Washington, NJ-based company celebrated 40 years providing practitioner-quality herbal extracts throughout North America amid preparations to move to a larger facility by year’s end.
With Winston, an acknowledged world expert on adaptogens and author of the book "Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina and Stress Relief," it’s no surprise that the company’s award-winning range of adaptogenic formulas and single herb extracts are considered some of the best in the world, the company stated. The company’s solid extracts, a somewhat rare product delivery form because of the expertise required to produce them well, are always in high demand.
“I began making extracts for my practice because I couldn’t find the quality I wanted in the marketplace,” Winston said. “As demand grew, it became clear H&A needed a businessperson to run it while I focused on educating, writing and formulating. I was fortunate to find Beth Lambert, who became my partner and CEO in 1995.”
Lambert added, “It’s been such an amazing journey to work with David and this fantastic staff, many of whom have been with us for many years. Having the confidence of customers and knowing we make a difference in people’s lives and the environment gives me pride in what we do every day.”
The new location will increase capacity to accommodate growth in product demand and is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter.
