Grassroots Network Defeats Attempts to Limit Access to Supplements Among Military Personnel

by Corinne Anderson | June 21, 2016

As part of a major victory for consumers, the Natural Products Association (NPA) prevented the introduction of an amendment to the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would limit access to safe and legal dietary supplements for the men and women of our armed services.

“The Natural Products Association refuses to allow Congress to single out the men and women of our military by denying them access to safe, legal products,” said Dan Fabricant, PhD, executive director and CEO of NPA.  “That’s why NPA put the full force of its grassroots network against a proposed amendment that would require our troops to go through more hoops and hurdles to get the products they desire.”

NPA’s grassroots and lobbying efforts have been instrumental in fighting the amendment since its defeat in the Senate Armed Services Committee last month. NPA’s Save Our Supplements site has generated more than 2,200 letters to Members of Congress in opposition to the amendment that was proposed by Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).
