October is Non-GMO Month

Every October, thousands of supermarkets, cooperatives, and independent natural food retailers join the Non-GMO Project in celebrating the consumer’s right to know what’s in their food. Register for Non-GMO Month to access to a free, turnkey program designed to help your business stand out as a community leader in the non-GMO movement. The Non-GMO Project provides stores with experience and support in their event preparations. See below for a list of tools you’ll receive simply for signing up. Established in 2010 as a platform for raising awareness on the GMO issue, Non-GMO Month has become one of the farthest-reaching campaigns of its kind. This year, businesses and shoppers from seven Canadian provinces and all 50 states will come together in support of our ability to choose non-GMO for ourselves, our families, and our future. With citizens across North America feeling increasingly empowered to choose a non-GMO lifestyle, participating stores saw an average sales increase of 11.5 percent for Non-GMO Project Verified items (SPINS). Together, we generated 8.2 million Facebook impressions and drove the verification of nearly 1,500 new products in just over one month. Participating retailers receive these powerful free resources:

  • Staff Training Tools and logbook copy to help your team address consumer questions, and tell your story
  • Social and Print Media tools to help you reach your broader community, including articles and press releases.
  • Promotional pricing on Non-GMO Project Verified products, coordinated with UNFI and KeHE.
  • Merchandising tools, including endcap planograms, shelf-talker graphics, and a list of Non-GMO Project Verified UPCs, to help your customers start choosing Non-GMO Project Verified in the aisles.
  • And much, much more!

Protecting consumer choice and a non-GMO food supply require a multi-faceted approach, and lots of teamwork. Together, we have the power to create a food system that values safe, healthy non-GMO food. Get involved today! We look forward to supporting you in this critical work.
