Vermont Soap to Rebuild After Fire

| July 31, 2014

A June fire damaged Vermont Soap’s factory, destroying production equipment but not the spirit of its employees, according to the Middlebury, VT organic product manufacturer.

“We will be even stronger after we overcome this challenge,” said Larry Plesent, CEO and founder, Vermont Soap.

The certified organic company is in the process of moving and building a new factory and will continue making its popular line of organic soaps and personal care products. The company has signed a lease on a building at 183 Industrial Ave. in Middlebury, just down the road from the ruined factory on Exchange St., reported Vermont Soap.

“We are not going out of business, we have good insurance, and we’re keeping all our employees busy with the move to the new site on Industrial Ave.,” said Plesent, adding that the new factory will be larger, allowing the company to continue to grow in the community that supported them through the ordeal.
