Sponsored Video: HP Ingredients’ ParActin® Andrographis paniculata Extract Product Development Guide: Inflammation.

by VRM Media | March 19, 2021

(1) What specific ingredients related to supporting inflammation activity do you offer brands in supplement applications?

ParActin® Andrographis paniculata extract is standardized to 50% Andrographolide, 14- deoxyandrographolide, and neoandrographolide. (US Patent # 8,084,495 B2).

ParActin®’s andrographolide has shown inflammatory management abilities for joint health via inhibiting NF kappa B, which reduces production and release of proinflammatory cytokines and proteins such as COX2, iNOS, IL-2, INFg, TNFa, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP).

Besides inhibiting NF-kB, ParActin® enhances antioxidant activity by activating the Nrf2-Keap1-antioxidant response element (ARE) pathway. Andrographolide increases Nrf2 activity, detaching it from KEAP1, so that the body can increase antioxidant proteins and enzymes such as glutathione, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT), among others, to destroy all the free radicals, thus reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.

(2) Are there new advancements and studies available to enhance new product innovations?

In 2019, we published A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study on Phytotherapy Research. 103 subjects with osteoarthritis were given a placebo, 300mg or 600mg of ParActin® for 12 weeks. ParActin® significantly reduced WOMAC Pain & Stiffness score, reduced fatigue, and improved the Quality of Life score.

In 2020, we published a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial in BMC Neurology. The study included 44 participants with neurological challenges who were given either 140mg of ParActin® or placebo for 24 months. ParActin® significantly promoted stable activity as well as physical and mental energy. This clinical supports our previous animal research that showed ParActin® reduces neuro-inflammation & stimulates neurogenesis.

HIF-1α is linked to inflammation in the synovial tissues. Inflammation causes fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) to release pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β that cause over production of (MMPs) in synovial cells & chondrocytes, which leads to cartilage (aggrecan, hyaluronan, and collagen) destruction. ParActin® protects chondrocytes against damage by significantly decreasing HIF-1α expression, reducing IL-1β, thereby reducing MMP-1, MMP-3, and MMP-9 expression of FLS in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

ParActin® significantly suppresses nuclear factor-kB ligand (RANKL) via inhibition of NF-kB. These leads to reduction osteoclast marker genes that help to reduce bone loss. In addition, ParActin® also induce osteoblast mineralization and increase calcium deposits.

(3) Are there specific DSHEA-compliant product label claims for your ingredient(s)?
• Supports Healthy Inflammatory Response
• Supports Healthy Joint Function
• Strengthens Joints and Eases Joint Flare-ups
• Improves Flexibility and Mobility
• Maintains Bone Mass and Strength
• Supports Muscle Health
• Supports Healthy Immune Response
• Supports Healthy Cartilage

Studies found that NF-kB pathway played a pivotal role in controlling the inflammation in the lungs. Andrographolide exerts anti-inflammatory effects via inhibiting NFkB activity or increasing Nrf2 activation in experimental models of airway inflammatory conditions including allergic asthma, COPD, ARDS, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Studies have shown Andrographolide protects the lung by inactivation of NF-Kb, significantly reduced lung cellular infiltrates, lung injury score, amount of lung fluid. This is confirmed by significantly reduction of lung inflammation and cytokines levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, MMP-8, and MMP-9.

(4) Does ParActin have a particular supply chain story or special certifications? ParActin® is attractive for any consumer from vegans to omnivores; there is no limit to potential consumers. ParActin® is: BSE-Free (non-bovine) Shellfish-free Eggshell-free Non-GMO Vegan Wild-crafted Non-irradiated, TSE-free Certified Kosher and Halal, Organic & GRAS
