When Elwood Richard founded NOW Foods in 1968, as a sideline to the family’s soy products business, he never thought his small company would make such a profound impact on the natural foods industry. Still owned by the Richard family today, the company sells more than 1,400 natural products, including dietary supplements and herbs, personal care, sports nutrition and foods. NOW products are distributed in 80 countries around the world, and the company employs more than 1,200 people in North America. Steadfastly dedicated to the natural food retailer for more than 45 years, NOW Foods offers many services to help retailers build business, including a comprehensive online training program designed exclusively for retailers, in addition to an array of free tools designed to help health food stores be more successful.

The NOW Product-ology online retailer training program leads the way to wellness and prevention through nutritional ingredient education. Each of the free 60-minute training sessions on a variety of healthy topics will empower retail teams with the knowledge they need to assist customers in the aisles. Product-ology is part of the new NOW Retailer Portal, which was created as an online information hub to serve the needs of NOW retail customers. Available behind a secure login, retailers can download NOW logos, product images and labels; place an order; view order history and more. The NOW Retailer Portal has everything retail customers need to manage their time more effectively and grow their business.

Free customized marketing materials to help support the sale of NOW products in stores and a mobile ordering application for its customers are more ways NOW supports health food retailers.

The most exciting news for 2015 is that NOW will be introducing a new label on all supplement products. While current customers liked the existing orange label, market research revealed that it had actually become a deterrent to both consumers and retailers who were new to the brand, so after extensive work and a consumer research study, a new label has been chosen. NOW has been providing some customers with a sneak peek of it and feedback has been consistently positive. This new design retains orange as the primary color, but presents a friendlier, more natural-looking label with greater shelf appeal. The new bottles should start appearing on shelves in March, with a gradual rollout to take place over the next several months.

NOW continuously demonstrates its quality point-of-difference, from state-of-the-art in-house labs to being one of the first companies to be GMP (good manufacturing practices) certified by the Natural Products Association in 2000. NOW Foods operates a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale, a second manufacturing and distribution center in Sparks, NV and a manufacturing facility in Ontario, Canada.

NOW Foods has received many awards for its products, domestic and international business growth, employee programs, and philanthropic and environmental initiatives. For seven years in a row NOW has been honored by the National Association for Business Resources as one of “Chicagoland’s 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For,” and in 2014 for the second year in a row they were also honored as one of “The Best & Brightest Companies to Work For” at the national level.
