On December 6, 2023, the Natural Products Association (NPA) will host a webinar titled “Behind the Administrative Iron Curtain of the FDA and FTC.” The event will be the first in a three-part series.
The webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the inner workings of both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Attendees will be able to learn about the organizational structure of the two agencies, how responsibilities are segmented and assigned, what administrative power the agencies have and don’t have, the complaint process, risk factors and enforcement.
The event will feature two speakers with more than 60 years of experience in the federal agencies:
Robert Durkin, FDA and Healthcare Practices. Of Counsel, Arnall Golden Gregory, LLP
Richard Cleland, FTC and Healthcare Practices. Of Counsel, Arnall Golden Gregory, LLP
Durkin was formerly acting director and deputy director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs (ODSP) in the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). Cleland joined the FTC in 1991 and served as the assistant director of the FTC’s Division of Advertising Practices from 2002-2022.
