A study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) conducted two decades ago which indicated that complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use was on the rise.
Since then, interest and participation in CAM therapies, such as prayer, deep breathing, meditation, yoga, and more have become increasingly prevalent in many American’s lives. As more documentaries are released, like Food Inc., which focus on the importance of naturally raised foods, more and more individuals are becoming aware of, and creating an increased demand for, pesticide-free, non-GMO, and organic options.
The same can be said of the increased interest in natural pet products. “Pet owners that look to natural alternatives for themselves are open to use natural alternatives for their furry friends,” said Regina Flight, category manager at NOW Pets. Pet owners are looking for quality products that they trust for their animal companions, said Flight. And when choosing these, they are often asking important questions such as: “Does the product line use human-grade ingredients? Are the products formulated by a holistic veterinarian? Are they non-GMO or do they contain gluten?” These and similar questions further educate pet parents and provide them not only with quality pet health products but peace of mind as well.
