As the market and industry for natural products and supplements to combat, or better yet, prevent, the symptoms of aging expand to keep up with the demand of a growing customer base, new products with new claims find their ways to the shelves of retailers all the time.
Although new development is not only great, but often crucial, for manufacturers, retailers and customers alike, that doesn’t mean those groups should forget about some of the basic vitamins, minerals and products that have stood the test of time, said Laurel Sterling, a nutritionist and educator at Carlson Laboratories, an Illinois-based manufacturer.
“Companies are finding more and more very interesting products for healthy aging all the time,” she said. “I think that looking once again at the basic vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fish oils, which our bodies need as the essential building blocks, is key. Much of the latest research is looping back and looking once again at the incredible cardiovascular, immune, brain, joint, eye, and energy benefits with these basic nutrients.”
