The Natural Products Association (NPA) will host Tieraona Low Dog, MD, CEO of Integrative Medicine Concepts, for a presentation on the correlation of dietary supplements and health on Dec. 4 at SOHO EXPO 2014. Sponsored by Natural Alternatives International, the NPA is thrilled to host one of the most knowledgeable and valued industry experts currently working in the field today, according to Daniel Fabricant, PhD, CEO and executive director, NPA.

“Dr. Low Dog will join us for this year’s SOHO EXPO to share her expansive knowledge in the field of dietary supplements and natural health alternatives, said Fabricant. “We are honored that she will bring her expertise to this event. Anyone who has heard Dr. Low Dog speak, knows it’s an opportunity that should not be missed.”

Low Dog’s presentation, “Life Fortified, The Case for Dietary Supplements,” will discuss the growing body of scientific evidence that shows dietary supplements play an important role in maintaining health and well-being, reported the NPA, noting Low Dog will delve into the world of dietary supplements, and present a strong case for the responsible use of nutritional supplements for the prevention and management of numerous common diseases.

Low Dog is an internationally known speaker, and her honors of distinction include the Martina de la Cruz medal for her work with indigenous medicines (1998), Time magazine’s “Innovator in Complementary and Alternative Medicine” (2001), NPA’s Burton Kallman Scientific Award (2007), NPR’s People’s Pharmacy Award (2010) and the Leadership Award from Integrative Healthcare (2014). “It is a pleasure to be invited to speak at this year’s SOHO EXPO to a passionate and dedicated group of attendees,” said Low Dog. “I’ve always enjoyed participating in this event, and I’m excited to present this informative session to both retailers and manufacturers, and to better help individuals obtain healthy, natural lifestyles.”

For her presentation, Low Dog will pull from her more than 30 years of work in the field of natural medicine, according to the association, adding the doctor played a leading role in national health policy and regulatory issues after President Bill Clinton appointed her to serve on the White House Commission of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2000, and she served as the elected Chair of the United States Pharmacopeia Dietary Supplements and Botanicals Expert Information Panel. She also recently completed a three-year term as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council for the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
