Almost immediately following the hire of Daniel Fabricant, PhD, as CEO, the Natural Products Association (NPA) has brought on Corey Hilmas, MD, PhD, as the new senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs.
Hilmas served the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for two years as the chief of the Dietary Supplement Regulation Implementation Branch that falls under the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs.
“Dr. Hilmas brings extensive experience from his work with FDA, including an unprecedented scientific perspective and regulatory expertise,” said Fabricant, adding the NPA will now be able to provide unmatched guidance on topics ranging from clinical issues, public health and regulatory compliance.
Education and regulation will be a top priority for Hilmas, who will also be working on producing new regulatory compliance efforts similar to those he conducted for industry stakeholders while in the field at FDA, according to the NPA.
“NPA is the only association that will offer its members the ability to have direct access to two top former FDA officials, and I’m excited to be working with Dr. Fabricant and the team he’s assembling,” said Hilmas.
