Mushroom’s Starring Role in Traditional Herbal Medicine

The immune system is comprised of trillions of cells interacting within sophisticated biological structures and processes that help keep us well. Supporting this intricate system requires a targeted, research-based approach. Medicinal mushrooms have a long history of supporting health on many levels; however, their incredible benefits to the immune system are what make them so impressive. Mushrooms are packed with vital nutrients including protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins. But, it’s the potent polysaccharides known as beta glucans that are primarily responsible for the immune system benefits.

Six mushrooms lead the way when it comes to supporting immunity: cordyceps, chaga, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi and shiitake.1 Research on these medicinal mushrooms includes in vitro, in vivo, and in many cases impressive human clinical trials.2 For example, several clinical trials demonstrated that maitake and shiitake mushrooms supported a healthy inflammatory response, as well as T-cell function.3,4 Another clinical trial found that oral administration of maitake mushroom supported the function of white blood cells, including neutrophils, for greater immune health.5

In addition to these six mushrooms, the beta glucan from baker’s yeast known as Wellmune has been shown to provide superior support of immunity. In fact, Wellmune has been the subject of more than a dozen clinical trials demonstrating that it promotes immunity.6 With an investment of more than $300 million, Wellmune is the most well-studied, natural-support ingredient for healthy immune function!

Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies involving marathoners, firefighters, and other individuals with stressful lifestyles found that Wellmune supported upper respiratory health and improved a sense of overall health. One clinical trial found those taking Wellmune reported 22 percent higher scores in vigor, a 48 percent reduction in fatigue, a 38 percent reduction in tension, and a 38 percent reduction in confusion, compared to the placebo groups.7

Also worth noting, beta glucan polysaccharides not only support the immune system, but have also been shown to increase energy, restore vitality, and support the body’s ability to manage stress.

Whole Earth & Sea Super Mushroom from Natural Factors is an impressive formula. It combines cordyceps, chaga, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi, and shiitake with Wellmune beta glucan and nutrient-dense Farm Fresh Factors to create a vital bioenergetic immune and energy support formula. Each capsule contains 50 mg each of the six mushrooms plus 250 mg of Wellmune. The mushrooms are 100 percent organic and non-GMO (genetically modified organism). A patented fermentation process is used to create high levels of beta glucan polysaccharides, antioxidants, and anthocyanins. Each capsule also contains 200 mg of Farm Fresh Factors, which includes fresh, raw active vegetables, whole fruit polyphenols, herbals and plants, and whole plant sea vegetables.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in immune system support, be sure to stock Whole Earth & Sea Super Mushroom, only from Natural Factors.
