Leader in Quality

With product quality and testing a central issue in the industry, NOW is proud to be a leader in continuously demonstrating quality. NOW operates a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale, IL, a second manufacturing and distribution center in Sparks, NV, and a manufacturing facility in Ontario, Canada. The in-house labs and testing capabilities are second to none in the dietary supplements industry. And this quality commitment isn’t just a recent effort: NOW was one of the first companies to be GMP (good manufacturing practice) certified by the Natural Products Association in 2000, long before GMP compliance was required.

NOW’s commitment to the natural products channel has been demonstrated since the company was founded by Elwood Richard in 1968. Still owned by the Richard family today, the company sells more than 1,400 natural products, including dietary and herbal supplements, personal care products, sports nutrition, and foods. NOW products are distributed in 80 countries around the world, and the company employs more than 1,200 people in North America. NOW is recognized for its commitment to quality and making good nutrition affordable, and still adheres to its original mission: To provide value in products and services that empower people to lead healthier lives.

Steadfastly dedicated to the natural food retailer for more than 45 years, NOW offers many services to help retailers build business, including a comprehensive online training program and an array of free tools designed to help them be more successful.

The online retailer-training program, NOW Product-ology, is designed to create experts in the aisle. Each free 60-minute training session provides nutritional ingredient education to empower retail staff with knowledge to answer customer questions and provide information about a variety of health topics. The newest course, “Supplement Quality, Safety & Regulation” presents regulation, cGMPs, and testing of dietary supplements to provide a thorough understanding of the industry.

In 2015, NOW introduced a new label design on all supplement products. This new design retained orange as the primary color, but presents a friendlier, more natural-looking label with greater shelf appeal.

NOW also launched a new line of quality pet supplements developed under the guidance of Barbara Royal, DVM, CVA, a renowned Midwestern veterinarian and pioneering expert in holistic animal care. The NOW Pets line offers products specifically tailored to address today’s most common pet health concerns made with the same attention to quality as NOW’s supplements for humans.

NOW Pets has been certified by the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC). The NASC is an organization that works together with the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and committed manufacturers of animal health supplements to improve the quality of animal health products.

NOW Pets products are intended to support all aspects of pet health, including immune system, normal joint structure and function, cardiovascular health, a healthy mood, a lustrous coat, and much more. Ingredients and ingredient combinations are selected based on recommendations from Royal and supported by the latest clinical research.

NOW Foods has received many awards for its products, domestic and international business growth, employee programs, and philanthropic and environmental initiatives. For eight years in a row NOW has been honored by the National Association for Business Resources as one of “Chicagoland’s 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For.”
