Reg‘Activ with ME-3—the Patented Probiotic Proven to Produce Glutathione, the “Master Antioxidant”

Since Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 produces glutathione, let’s begin by reviewing the importance and significance of glutathione.

Glutathione has been called the “master antioxidant” because it is the most important and most prevalent antioxidant in humans. Glutathione is made in every cell of the body and one of its primary functions is to protect all of the components inside every cell of the body, against free radical aging damage.

In addition to being an antioxidant, glutathione also recycles or regenerates other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and coenzyme Q10.

Glutathione is also the “master detoxifying agent” because it is the most important compound involved in detoxifying virtually all toxins we get exposed to. Glutathione levels are depleted during the process of removing toxins from the body.

Most people have sub-optimal glutathione levels in the body due to constant and ever-increasing exposure to environmental toxins as well as low levels of necessary nutrients due to poor diets and nutrient depletions causes by use of OTC and prescription drugs.

Other Benefits of Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3

• Decreases cardiovascular disease risks: Due to its antioxidant activity, probiotics containing Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 will reduce the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol, which lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease.

• Reduces inflammation: Studies report that Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 reduces levels of key markers of inflammation such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6). Since inflammation is associated with virtually all health problems, ME-3’s ability to lower inflammation is another great ME-3 health benefit.

• Increases Paraoxonase enzyme activity: Paraoxonases are enzymes that detoxify pesticides such as organophosphates. Organophosphates are widely used in agriculture, and they are also found in a wide variety of pesticides used on residential lawns and gardens. These pesticides are powerful neurotoxins, especially in younger children. In one large government-funded study, 93 percent of children tested had traces of one or more organophosphates in their systems.

• Potent activity against pathological bacteria: studies report that Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 has significant activity against a number of well-known pathological bacteria that occur frequently in humans. At the same time, studies show that ME-3 is not harmful to beneficial strains of probiotic bacteria.

• Thrives and survives: Studies report that ME-3 is stable at room temperature so it does not require refrigeration. Studies also report that ME-3 is very stable when exposed to strong acidity.

Merchandising Tips

Retailers should stress that although probiotics are commonly associated with gut health, this particular probiotic is unique in its ability to produce glutathione in the body. Therefore this product would not be placed with the traditional probiotic section, but instead in the individual sections of the store for each product (cardio, liver, immune, etc.).

Retailers should also stress that glutathione is notoriously hard to supplement with because it is oxidized very rapidly in the bloodstream. This is the only product out there that is capable of continually producing glutathione in the body, eliminating the issues with supplementation.
